Gurukul Foundation – Gau Seva at Our Gaushala

Gurukul Foundation is deeply committed to Gau Seva, and our Gaushala has been created as a safe, loving home for cows who have nowhere else to go. Many of the cows who come to us are injured, abandoned, stray, old, or neglected. Some have survived road accidents, some were left behind after they stopped giving milk, and some were simply wandering without food or water. At our Gaushala, each cow is treated as a living embodiment of compassion, deserving care, respect, and dignity.

Our first priority is to provide safe shelter. The Gaushala is designed with covered sheds to protect cows from harsh sun, rain, and cold winds. The flooring is regularly cleaned to keep the area dry and hygienic, reducing the risk of infections and hoof problems. We also maintain open areas where the cows can move freely, stretch, rest, and interact with each other. This balance of covered and open space helps them stay physically active and mentally relaxed.

A major part of Gau Seva is ensuring that every cow receives nutritious food and clean water. At Gurukul Foundation’s Gaushala, we provide a carefully planned diet that includes green fodder, dry fodder, mineral mixtures, and seasonal supplements as needed. Special attention is given to weak, old, and injured cows, who may require softer or specially prepared food. Fresh, clean water is available at all times in multiple troughs so that no cow has to struggle or compete to drink.

Many of our cows come to us with wounds, fractures, infections, or long-term health issues. For them, we have regular veterinary check-ups and emergency medical care. Qualified veterinarians treat injuries, give vaccinations, de-worming, and necessary medicines. We also maintain a small infirmary space where seriously injured or recovering cows can rest in peace under close observation. Our sevadars monitor their progress, ensuring that pain is reduced and healing is supported with proper treatment and gentle care.

Cleanliness and a peaceful environment are also core facilities at our Gaushala. The cow sheds are cleaned multiple times a day, and dung is collected and used for organic manure and traditional products, helping create a sustainable ecosystem. The calm and sattvic atmosphere of the Gaushala makes it a spiritual space where devotees and visitors can connect with Gau Mata, offer seva, and experience inner peace. Many people choose to celebrate special days like birthdays, anniversaries, or festivals by sponsoring fodder, medicine, or a day’s meal for the cows.

Through these facilities – shelter, food, medical care, cleanliness, and compassionate human support – Gurukul Foundation’s Gaushala becomes more than just a cow shelter. It is a sanctuary of love and responsibility towards our desi cows, injured and stray animals, and all beings who depend on us. Every contribution and every moment of seva helps us continue this sacred work of Gau Seva and ensure that no cow in our care sleeps hungry, uncared for, or unloved.
