Makar Sankranti Gau Seva: Feed & Treat Injured, Abandoned & Hungry Cows
A compassionate initiative by Gurukul Foundation
Makar Sankranti is a festival of new beginnings, gratitude, and sacred giving. As the sun moves into a new season, we also get a chance to begin our year with compassion. But while we celebrate, many cows spend these days in silence—hungry, weak, injured, and abandoned. Some are left on roads after they become old or unwell. Some suffer from accidents, wounds, infections, or swelling. Many search for food in garbage and unsafe places. During winter, hunger and pain become even harder to survive. This is why Gurukul Foundation is running a special Makar Sankranti Gau Seva campaign—to feed hungry cows and provide treatment to the injured and abandoned cows who need urgent care.
Gurukul Foundation’s team and volunteers work on the ground to reach cows in need with fresh fodder, nutritious feed, clean drinking water, and medical support. When a cow is injured, quick first-aid and timely treatment can save her life. When a cow is hungry, even one proper meal can restore strength and help recovery. Your support helps us continue this work—more feeding drives, faster treatment, and better care for cows who cannot speak for themselves.
The Problem: Hunger, Injury & Abandonment
Every day, we see cows walking near traffic, marketplaces, and open dumping areas. Many have cuts from sharp waste, leg injuries, skin infections, or fever and weakness due to lack of food. Abandoned cows often struggle the most because they are not protected by any shelter. They face cold nights, harsh weather, and the constant search for something to eat. This campaign focuses on immediate relief: food today, treatment today, and care until recovery.
What We Do on Makar Sankranti
On Makar Sankranti, our volunteers organize feeding and care activities in areas where cows are most vulnerable. We prepare and distribute fodder and balanced feed to ensure cows get nutrition, not just leftovers. For injured cows, we arrange first-aid and connect with veterinary help for further treatment. Our aim is to serve with dignity—so every cow receives food and care in a safe and respectful way.
Where Your Donation Helps
Your contribution directly supports the most essential needs of injured, abandoned, and hungry cows:
- Fodder & Feed: green fodder, dry fodder, and nutritious feed for weak and hungry cows.
- Medical Aid: antiseptic solutions, wound dressing, pain relief support, and essential medicines.
- Veterinary Support: consultation and treatment guidance for injuries, infections, and recovery.
- Care & Recovery: follow-up dressing, basic hygiene support, and continued feeding during healing.
- Clean Water & Essentials: hydration support and basic needs during feeding drives.
Our Promise: Transparent & On-Ground Impact
Gurukul Foundation believes in real, visible service. We focus on on-ground action—feeding cows where they are hungry and supporting treatment where they are injured. Your donation is used to arrange fodder, medicines, and the basic care needed for recovery. When you support this campaign, you help us respond faster, serve more cows, and continue the work beyond one day—because healing takes time, and compassion must be consistent.
