Makar Sankranti is a festival of light, hope, and new beginnings. It marks the shift of seasons and reminds us to welcome positivity in our lives. But for many monkeys living near temples, markets, highways, and forest edges, this season can be harsh. They often struggle to find food and clean water. Injured and abandoned monkeys suffer silently—some with untreated wounds, some weak from hunger, and some separated from their groups due to illness or accidents.
This Makar Sankranti, Gurukul Foundation is running a special Monkey Seva campaign to provide feeding support and medical treatment for injured, hungry, and abandoned monkeys. Our volunteers and support team work on the ground to distribute safe, nutritious food and arrange first-aid and veterinary help wherever urgently needed. Your donation helps us respond faster, feed more monkeys, and save lives with timely care.
The Reality: Why Monkeys Need Our Support
Monkeys are intelligent and social animals, but urban expansion and changing weather patterns often reduce their natural food sources. Many move closer to human settlements, where they face risks like road accidents, dehydration, infection, and injuries from sharp objects. Sadly, some monkeys are also abandoned or left behind when they are sick or weak. Without treatment, small wounds can turn into painful infections. Without food, they become fragile and vulnerable. Our campaign focuses on providing immediate relief—food for strength and medical support for healing.
What Gurukul Foundation Will Do Through This Campaign
- Feeding Drives: Distribute safe, nutritious food such as fruits and seasonal items to hungry monkeys in identified areas.
- Clean Water Support: Provide water bowls and hydration support, especially in dry areas where animals struggle to find water.
- First-Aid for Injuries: Basic wound cleaning, antiseptic care, bandaging, and protection for minor injuries (where safe).
- Medical Treatment Assistance: Arrange veterinary consultation and help with essential medicines for serious cases.
- Emergency Help: Support for transport and urgent response when an injured monkey is found in critical condition.
