Mauni Amavasya Monkey Feeding Drive — Seva With Gurukul Foundation Feed the hungry, protect the vulnerable, and spread compassion on a sacred day

Mauni Amavasya is a deeply sacred day in our tradition—known for silence, self-discipline, prayer, and acts of charity. On this spiritually powerful occasion, Gurukul Foundation is carrying out a heartfelt mission: feeding hungry monkeys who often wander in search of food, especially near forests, ghats, and temple areas. Many of these monkeys survive on leftovers, unsafe items, or nothing at all. With your support, we can provide clean, safe, and nourishing food—so that their hunger is eased and their health is protected.

Why this drive matters

Monkeys are part of our ecosystem and our cultural landscape. During harsh weather, habitat changes, and reduced natural food availability, they often come closer to human settlements. Without proper food, they become weak, dehydrated, and more vulnerable to injury and illness. Feeding them responsibly helps prevent suffering, supports their natural strength, and reduces their dependence on harmful waste. On Mauni Amavasya, a small act of compassion becomes a powerful offering of merit and humanity.

What Gurukul Foundation is doing on Mauni Amavasya

  • Safe food distribution: Fresh, suitable food items arranged and distributed in a calm, non-harmful manner.
  • Multiple feeding points: Feeding is planned at select locations to reach more hungry monkeys without creating crowding.
  • Clean & mindful seva: Volunteers maintain cleanliness and ensure feeding is done respectfully, without littering.
  • Water support: Where possible, drinking water is also provided to help during long hours of searching for food.

Your donation will help with

Food procurement, packing, transport, volunteer coordination, and setting up feeding points. Every contribution—small or big—directly supports this Mauni Amavasya seva.

A simple act, a lasting impact

One feeding kit can help multiple monkeys. A collective effort can cover more areas and ensure hungry animals do not go to sleep without food on this sacred day.

How you can support this Mauni Amavasya Seva

  1. Donate: Contribute any amount to help us arrange food for hungry monkeys.
  2. Sponsor a feeding kit: Support one full set of food distribution for a feeding point.
  3. Share the campaign: Forward this message to friends and family so more hands join this good cause.
  4. Volunteer: If you’re nearby, join our team for distribution and cleanliness support.
