Khatu Shyam Ji Seva: Blanket Distribution & Food Drive for the Poor North India Cold-Wave Relief • Distribution by Gurukul Foundation
During winter in North India, sudden cold waves and dense fog can turn nights into a serious risk for people living on the streets. Daily-wage workers, homeless families, elderly individuals, and children often have no warm clothing, no proper bedding, and no safe shelter. When temperatures drop sharply, a single night without protection can lead to severe illness, breathing issues, and life-threatening conditions. In the name of Khatu Shyam Ji, this campaign is a humble effort to bring warmth and nourishment to those who are most vulnerable—so no one is left to face the cold alone.
Project Purpose
The purpose of this Khatu Shyam Ji seva is to provide immediate winter relief through blanket distribution and a supportive food drive for poor and needy people on the streets across North India. A warm blanket protects the body from freezing temperatures and reduces the risk of cold-related illness. A timely meal brings strength, comfort, and calm—especially for people who may have walked long distances, worked all day, or have not eaten properly. This is not only charity; it is compassion delivered with dignity and respect.
What the Relief Drive Includes
Implementation Approach & Dignity First
This relief drive is conducted by Gurukul Foundation with a “dignity first” approach. We identify distribution spots based on visible need and local inputs, ensuring that support reaches the most vulnerable communities living in open spaces. Our volunteers serve calmly and respectfully, avoiding rush or humiliation. Blankets are handed with care, and food is served in a way that maintains cleanliness and decency. The aim is not only to distribute items, but to provide comfort, reassurance, and human connection during a harsh season.
In the name of Khatu Shyam Ji, this campaign invites everyone to participate in a seva that has immediate, life-saving value. A blanket can be the difference between sickness and safety. A warm meal can be the difference between weakness and strength. When winter cold waves strike, timely help matters. This initiative stands for compassionate action—so the poor and needy on our streets can face the winter with a little more warmth, protection, and hope.
